Maggie is a kick arse lawyer. She has just got this kid off of murder charges for a murder he did not commit. Now Maggie is faced with defending her sons best friend in a murder that is not her fault. Zoey shows up at Maggies doorstep and says she needs a lawyer and Maggie's son begs his mother to help her out. So Maggie decides to help her out. As Maggie is getting ready to defend Zoey she is torn between believing Zoey may have killed this guy on purpose. But Maggie does what she does best and she defends her client and gets her off.
Then a few weeks later Maggie gets a call from her son Ian that Maggie is being sought after by the police because her parents were murdered and they think Zoey did it. So Maggie represents her again but this time she is thinking that Zoey may have killed her parents because of the evidence against her and the fact that Zoey and Ian have lied to the police. As Maggie defends Zoey for her parents murder she starts to uncover some information leading her to believe Zoey didn't kill her parents but is it enough to get Zoey off again?
