Rich people get away with murder every day, but Vivian Foster intends to make billionaire Javier Rivera pay for what he did to her best friend—and how better to destroy a money-grubbing bastard than to sabotage the merger that means everything to him.

Javier Rivera would never hurt a woman much less kill one. But when he catches a gorgeous corporate spy in his office, he knows he can’t let her go—not when even a hint of scandal could ruin his career. Until the merger is signed, he’ll keep her close, even if he has to shackle her to his wrist. Literally.

But the closer Javier gets to Vivian, the more he wants her, and the more time she spends with him, the less she believes he could ever be a killer. Now Vivian and Javier have to discover the truth…and Vivian has to win the trust of her worst enemy.

MY REVIEW

5 OF 5 BUSINESS MERGERS

Entangled has done it again! Lord they sure know how to pick an author. In A Vengeful Affair you have business, suspense, romance, and murder or suicide that is the question? Molly is having an affair with her boss when she commits suicide and her best friend Vivian just does not believe her friend would commit suicide. So Vivian decides she is going to spy on Javier and see what has really happened to her best friend. What Vivian does not count on is getting caught in the middle of a war between rivals for a deal merger and so much more.

See the guy she actual works for wants her to spy on Javier and ruin a merger he has worked so hard to get and Vivian agrees because she thinks Javier caused Molly's death. Vivian goes to work for Javier and begins spying on him when she is caught and Javier decides the age old saying of keep your friends close and your enemies closer applies to Vivian. So he takes Vivian with him to Paris to close the merger. Once there all Vivian can think about is destroying him but after a romantic night with Javier Vivian realizes there is something wrong with everything she has been told.

Vivian catches the guy she is supposed to be working for with the guy that Javier wants to do the merger with. What is revealed next was shocking because the guy and Javier know each other and Javier hates him because he did something to Javier as a child which caused Javier to flee Spain. As the story unfolds everything comes out and Vivian hopes she is not to late to salvage what she has with Javier. Will she and Javier have their happily ever after? Will Javier get the merger he so desperately wants and needs? Will the truth come out as to what really happened to Molly?

Come along on the best ride of your summer for some romance, suspense, and business mergers done in Paris where everyone wants to be!

INTERVIEW WITH CARMEN

Hi everyone, thank you so much for having me! I must say those questions are perfect for my Javier/Vivian withdrawals, as they allowed me to reminisce about those two. What a treat! Thank you!

What inspired you to write A Vengeful Affair?

I grew up reading revenge and enemies-to-lovers plots. It’s a great setup for strong emotions, hot tension and sexual buildup. I knew I wanted to write a story like that, but unlike most books I’d read, I wanted the heroine to be the one thirsty for revenge! It was overwhelming at first – how could I craft a heroine capable of plotting to destroy the hero, and still make her likeable and relatable? But I’m glad I took the challenge. I love Vivian.

Is Javier made after a person in your life?

No, although in my mind he’s very real… real and spectacular. LOL.

When did Vivian realize she had genuine feelings for Javier?

I think toward the end of the book she admits it to herself and verbalizes it before it’s too late. She steps way out of her comfort zone to do so. But as the book unfolds, I think the reader can have a good sense of Vivian’s emotions before even she does. It doesn’t go from love to hate right away. She goes through a range of emotions, and a lot of twists and turns take place. If you haven’t read the book yet, read it and you’ll find out more.

When did Javier realize he had genuine feelings for Vivian?

I had to make him wait and give him what he wanted, or what he thought he wanted, to make him come to terms with his feelings and what she meant to him. There’s a scene in the Swiss woods that made me very emotional when I wrote it; it’s when he is injured and what happens afterward. I think on that day something very deep starts to change inside him, which goes back to his childhood and how he trusts people.

If you could pick one song to describe Javier and Vivian’s relationship, what song would it be?

“Turning Tables” by Adele. I actually think of them when I listen to that song.

Can you give us five random facts for Javier and Vivian that we do not see in the book?

Great question! Let’s see… 1. Javier has three stepsisters. There was a scene in which they were mentioned, but because of edits and tightening, I had to cut them out. 2. After the end of the book and with the mystery solved, Vivian takes dancing lessons. 3. Javier’s zodiac sign is Scorpio. 4. Vivian hates pickles. 5. Javier’s favorite color is green.

Do you have another book coming out this year?

I don’t have a book under contract, but I do have a few projects and one of them is under consideration right now. So please let’s all cross our fingers and toes and hope for the best. J
